Up Creating ideal, healthy homes: Applying modern Building Biology to ancient Vedic architecture Slideshow

25 November 2010

Building Biology offers an important contribution from modern science to the ancient science of Maharishi Vedic Architecture, supporting Vastu principles including natural, non-toxic building materials.

Rolf Kiupel, a Building Biologist or bau-biologist in Germany, is an architect at MERU in Holland, and explained how these two approaches create ideal healthy homes.

Building Biology covers planning and design in architecture and provides extensive knowledge of the best modern materials for diverse applications.

In Germany, Bau-biologie emerged in the 1950s in response to the growing number of synthetic architectural materials with unknown effects on health, Dr Kiupel said. Before this time, 80 per cent of construction materials were natural, and now in 2010, 85 per cent are synthetic.

The fact that most people spend 90 per cent of their time indoors, and only 10 per cent of their time outdoors in 'fresh air' led Building Biologists to develop methods to ensure fresh, pure, indoor air.

Energy conservation and sustainable energy utilizing solar, wind, and geothermal sources are also recommended.

Electromagnetic and other forms of radiation, as well as environmental pollution are also causes of health concerns for which Building Biology offers practical solutions.

In conjunction with Building Biology, Maharishi Vedic Architecture supports all of these aspects of healthy building, and in addition goes beyond them to provide Fortune-Creating homes and offices fully in accord with Natural Law. (read more)
