One of the most well-established programmes in Latin America utilizing Transcendental Meditation is Hogares Claret, a network of rehabilitation centres based in Colombia.
A Transcendental Meditation teacher involved in the programme recently gave an update on Hogares Claret's progress and described the services it offers. He spoke of the alternate therapies used in it's rehabilitation programme, including Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme.
The focus of Fundacion Hogares Claret is on rehabilitation. The centre 'provides rehabilitation treatment to people with drug addiction and social risk and social behaviour problems', the teacher said.
In addition to caring for thousands of children in Colombia, the foundation also provides services to children in other parts of Latin America, including many countries in the Caribbean.
In the beginning, the founder of Hogares Claret used traditional therapeutic methods, but, according to the Transcendental Meditation teacher, 'ten years ago [he] saw a way to change and improve the traditional therapeutic approach applied in rehabilitation programmes, introducing yoga, Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation-Sidhi programme.'
