Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management in Iowa, USA, toured Nepal recently, visiting universities and participating in several special events.
He started in the city of Pokhara, the second largest city and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. There Dr Morris visited Pokhara University, where he spoke to the MBA class and met with the rector of the university. Dr Bill Goldstein, the International Director of Expansion at Maharishi University of Management, also visited.
Now discussions are underway to explore the possibility of collaboration between Pokhara University and Maharishi University of Management to build a college of integrative medicine in Pokhara.
The topic of integrative medicine met with receptivity in Nepal, a country with an ancient Vedic heritage which has progressed rapidly into modern functioning.
Last year, a conference was held in the capital city of Kathmandu on 'Integrative Medicine for the 21st Century for Nepal'. Robert Schneider, MD, FACC, a leading authority on the natural prevention and treatment of heart disease, was a featured speaker at the conference. Dr Schneider is Director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention and Dean of Maharishi College of Perfect Health at Maharishi University of Management. (read more)
