| 1 September 2012 In its cycle of nutrition, plants take the Sun's energy and through photosynthesis turn it into carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. A significant portion of these nutrients is pushed down through the plant's stem and released into the soil through its root system. Some of the nutrients feed bacteria and fungi in the soil that are then eaten by grazers and predators. The remaining minerals nourish the plant. |
