| 1 September 2012 This chart explains how to create a layered garden plot with it's own microclimate. The bottom layer, hay or straw around eight inches deep, is covered with a layer of manure, followed by a layer of compost and topped with a final two inches of hay. Placing the plants close together helps them create their own microclimate—your garden can be productive year round growing seasonal vegetables and herbs. |
